Tata Nexon Compact SUV Spied Testing Ahead Of 2017 Launch
The Nexon compact SUV was showcased by Tata Motors at the 2016 Auto Expo. Now the sub-4 metre compact SUV continues to be tested ahead of its launch. Tata Nexon will be launched in the Indian market sometime during 2017.
Now a fully-camouflaged Tata Nexon was caught testing in Pune. It seems like the compact SUV spied was in pre-production avatar. Engineers and designers still seem to be playing around with the headlight and tail lamp designs.
Powering the Nexon will be a 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged engine. While an optional 1.5-litre RevoTorq diesel engine will also be offered. These are the same engine options that are also shared by Tata's Zest and Bolt models. Nexon will receive optional manual transmission and AMT units.
In terms of safety, Tata Nexon will be equipped with a host of features. Dual airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) will be on offer in the compact SUV. Recently, Tata Motors patented their engine stop/start system, which could also be used.
Once launched the Tata Nexon will compete in a crowded segment in India. Nexon will have to face the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV3OO, and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Expect the Nexon by Tata to be priced extremely competitively in the country.
