Tata Motors Working On An Electric Vehicle
Tata Motors, along with Jaguar Land Rover will soon come up with an electric vehicle for the Indian market. The Chief Technology Officer, Gopichand Katragadda confirmed that an electric car project is ongoing.
Mukund Rajan, the Group Executive Council Member, also said that Tata Motors has conceptualised an electric car and may be working with other companies outside the group for the finished version of the electric car.
Tata Motors has seen sales growth of 9.9 percent in April, and the carmaker's commercial and passenger vehicle segments has seen a growth of 11 percent, compared to April 2015. Tata Motors is expected to have the electric vehicle technology in both, passenger as well as commercial vehicles.
Once launched, the main competitor will be Mahindra's e2o in the Indian market. Mahindra too is working on a four door electric car, which is expected to hit the showrooms soon.
