True Blue SUV — Comparing The Tata Hexa vs Mahindra XUV500
The true blue SUVs have taken a back seat in the Indian automobile market due to the compact SUVs taking prominence.
However, the SUV market is not fading away, but, automakers are positive about the future in this segment and have lined-up many launches. Here are two true blue SUVs and we pit them against each other. Read to find out which suits you the best.
Design: Tata Hexa vs Mahindra XUV500
Tata Motors are changing gears on the design front and moving away from the boxy and conventional approach. The Hexa looks butch and beefy with flatter front bonnet, thick and big wheel arches, body cladding and skid plates affirms the SUV characteristics.
When compared to the Tata Aria, this has new headlamps with LED DRLs on the front bumper. While the Aria was tastefully done, the Hexa looks angular and sharp and modern. On the rear, the tail lamps are horizontal which makes the Hexa brawnier.
Mahindra's XUV500 looks very much an SUV with its bold and thick wheel arches, Mahindra has designed the XUV500 as Cheetah inspired and it does have those elements to carry off the image.

This is probably the best looking car from the Mahindra stable and the people have given a thumbs up to the overall design. From the shoulder lines to the wheel arches which rises towards the rear gives it ample feeling of a true blue SUV.
From the first look inside the Tata Hexa, it has the premium touch with its leather block which runs across the dashboard. Also, the seats which are in leather which is seen with the double stitch which gives the Hexa a rich and sophisticated feel.

As for the Mahindra XUV500, it is sophisticated with the dual tone, black and grey combination. The cabin space is good enough in the segment it competes. It might not be spacious if you look at the XUV500 as a 7-seater cabin, the Tata Hexa is more of a crossover and in cabin space, it competes with the Toyota Innova Crysta.

One of the main features of the Tata Hexa is the terrain response system which is seen in the Range Rover. Obviously, Tata Motors owns a majority stake in Jaguar Land Rover and they have indeed learnt a lot about terrain response technology.
This feature helps the Hexa to go places be it on-road or off-road and the capabilities can be seen in the off-road experience. Also, will be the 6-airbags and ABS with EBS and features like the camera for parking, keyless entry and exit, speed sensing door locks and lots more.
As for Mahindra XUV500, the vehicle comes with off-road capabilities like the hill descent and hill hold control, along with keyless entry and exit, reverse parking camera and lots more.

Tata could have a winner on its hands, the Hexa looks promising and its leap ahead in terms of design and technology when compared to older products from Tata. If you are looking for an SUV with space of an MPV, then the Hexa is the right choice.
As for the Mahindra XUV500, it is the best SUV built by Mahindra and it has the true blue SUV image, it might not have the full-fledged SUV capabilities like the terrain response system, however, it is an SUV any family can boast off. The design of the XUV500 is the best among the two.
