Suzuki Swift Global Sales Cross 5 Million Units
Suzuki Motor Corporation has sold over 5 million units of the Swift since it started production 11 years and 5 months ago.
India accounts for 54 percent of the total number, with 2.7 million units of the Swift and its sub-4m sedan sibling, the Swift Dzire being sold by Maruti Suzuki since the Swift's launch in 2005..
Europe accounts for the second largest chunk of shares with 17 percent of all Swift sales ahead of Japan in third with 10 percent of the sales volume. All other markets combine together to make up the remaining 19 percent.
The Swift is currently being produced in seven countries Japan, India, Hungary, Thailand, Malaysia, China and Pakistan.
The Swift passed the 1 Million sales mark in June 2008. The 2 Million figure was crossed off in January 2011 and it zipped past the 3 million mark in January 2013. The next million Swifts made their way into the driveways of the customers by August 2014.
