Supreme Court Upholds Delhi Diesel Ban
oi-Dennis
By Dennis
The Supreme Court has upheld its December ruling that banned the sale of vehicles with Diesel engines larger than 2,000cc. The ban had been challenged by Mahindra, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz on January 4.
However, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the plea filed by Mercedes, Toyota and Mahindra and has asked the three companies to submit documentary proof whether diesel vehicles are less or more polluting than petrol.
In addition to upholding the ban on big diesel vehicles, the Supreme court has also asked the Central government to replace all government vehicles running on diesel, which are older than five years.
