2016 Paris Motor Show: SsangYong Revealed LIV-2-SUV Concept

SsangYong revealed its LIV-2-SUV concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. A few weeks back, the company revealed the pictures and details of this concept vehicle. When the pictures and details surfaced, the company stated that the LIV-2 concept would preview the company's upcoming Y400 model.

The Y400 is the next-generation Rexton which will be launched in 2017. In the name LIV-2, LIV is the abbreviation for ‘Limitless Interface Vehicle'. This concept is an evolved version of the LIV-1 concept showcased back in 2013 at Seoul Motor Show. The LIV-2 concept has a body-on-frame construction and has four-wheel drive.

SsangYong stated in an official release, "LIV-2 is an executive SUV which will take the brand into new areas of the market."

The SUV will get a 2.0-litre GDi turbocharged petrol engine producing 221bhp and 349Nm of torque. There is also a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine capable of producing 178bhp and 420Nm of torque. Both the petrol and diesel unit will be offered with the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic.

When it comes to safety, the car gets nine airbags and an Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS). This system uses radar and laser scanning to detect pedestrians and warns the driver. It also gets features such as lane departure warning system, high beam assistance, blind spot detection and lane change assist.
