Spaceships Are The Future Of Formula E — Anand Mahindra
Mahindra and Mahindra boss Anand Mahindra say that Formula E's high-pitched spaceships are the future of the all-electric series.
According to Mahindra, the sports is evolving away from the dinosaurs of F1. The environmental friendly racing series has been a great success and attracted major manufacturers to the championship.
Ten teams will be participating in the all-electric racing series including India's Mahindra Racing, which will line up in this years season.
The FIA Formula E debuted in 2014 and seen as a greener alternative to Formula One. But the racing purists say it's not the real way of racing.
Commenting on this topic Mahindra said, "If you've ever been to one you'll know it's not as boring as people think because there are no sounds."
He added, "It's actually like being in a 'Star Wars' movie because there's a whining electric sound. You're essentially in a spaceship race."
Critics say that with the speeds of 240km/h and sounds up to 80 decibels are a turn off compared to the level of excitement of the Formula One cars.
But Mahindra believes that the Formula E racing is the future of motor racing and one day Formula E will be as popular as the Formula One racing series.
The upcoming Formula E season will see the teams with two drivers racing in famous city street circuits. Germany's Nick Heidfeld and Swede Felix Rosenqvist will be behind the wheel of Mahindra Racing cars.
