Spy Pics: Smaller Jaguar SUV Based On F-Pace Spotted Testing
Jaguar's push into the SUV segment is in full swing now. The F-Pace is already on sale in numerous international markets and is set to launch in India in the very near future.
The SUV spotted in the spy pictures below is what seems to be a shortened F-Pace acting as a test bed for Jaguar's new compact SUV.
The new SUV which was once rumoured to be called the E-Pace, will not be based on the same platform as the F-Pace but instead, will be based on Land Rover's Range Rover Evoque SUV.
The new SUV is also expected to be the first Jag since the X-Type to offer a front-wheel-drive layout but four-wheel-drive will be available as an option on most of the range.
Underneath the hood, the SUV is expected to feature four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with turbocharging helping boost performance and mileage figures. Another option will be going hybrid, which is what the test mule has been registered as (a diesel-electric hybrid to be precise). However, don't expect the new SUV to carry a V6 engine (emissions restrictions can be a pain.
Jaguar's new compact SUV is expected to be launched in the year 2018 and is expected to carry a price tag of around £28,000 (Rs. 24.75 lakh).
