Czech automaker Skoda revealed that the company has produced 1 lakh units of the current gen Superb. The very first superb was launched back in 2001 and since, the automaker has produced around 9 lakh units of all the three generations. They announced this as part of the model's 15th anniversary.
The current model Superb was introduced in March 2015 globally. The model has a sharp design, plenty of features and it's even more spacious than the old generation. The model is powered by a 1.8-litre and a 2.0-litre diesel engine.
The petrol engine is mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission while the diesel is available with only a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The name Superb was launched by Skoda a way back in 1934 in the form of the 640 Superb. That vehicle had a 2.5-litre six-cylinder engine producing 55bhp and only 200 vehicles rolled out of the factory.
