Skoda Teases Kodiaq; Engine Details Revealed [Images + Video]

Skoda Auto teased it upcoming SUV, the Kodiaq and beginning its campaign with the all-rounder SUV. This will be Skoda first full-size SUV, a 7-seater vehicle.

The Czech automobile manufacturer has revealed more information of the Kodiaq and released camouflaged images and video of the SUV, which is currently in the final stages of testing.

Skoda Auto will launch the Kodiaq in 2017 with a choice of five engines; two TDIs and three TSIs. The 2.0-litre TSI will be the most powerful of the lot which will churn out 177bhp.

The Skoda Kodiaq will be available in 6-speed manual gearbox and DSG transmission in the front- wheel drive and all-wheel drive formats.

The Kodiaq will feature Driving Mode Select and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), using these features, the steering, accelerator, DSG transmission and suspension can be used to configure in multiple modes.

As for the 5-seater Kodiaq, will boast of the largest boot space in its class. The SUV will come with plastic door edge protection which operates automatically to avoid any damages will parking in a garage or car parks.

On the design front, the Skoda Kodiaq will be based on the VisionS design language which was unveiled at the 86th Geneva Motor Show in March, 2016. The design is inspired by Czech cubism and the tradition of Bohemian crystal art.

The Kodiaq will come with the similar face like the current generation Skoda vehicles and the company claims the new SUV which is at 4,700mm at length will perform efficiently both off and on-road condition.

In India, the Skoda Kodiaq is expected late 2017 or early 2018, and it will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The pricing of the Kodiaq is expected in the range of Rs. 30 to 35 lakh.
