The Very First Shelby Cobra Sets A New Auction Record

The first Shelby Cobra - VIN CSX 2000 - has been auctioned for a record setting $13.8 million at the RM Sotheby's auction at Pebble Beach. This is a new auction record for an American car.

This car was manufactured in 1962 when Carroll Shelby first used a 4.2-litre V8 engine into the chassis of the British Ace sports car. The Shelby Cobra, an iconic machine known for its powerful performance, can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds.

This unique car, the CSX 2000 was used for research and development, and also for auto shows. The car was owned by Carroll Shelby and has been used for promotional events around the globe.
