Renault Kwid India Bookings Cross 85,000 Units Since Launch
Renault India launched its most affordable product in the form of the 'Kwid' hatchback. The French automobile manufacturer has witnessed an overwhelming response since the Kwid was revealed. Now, the manufacturer has achieved over 85,000 Kwid bookings since its launch in India.
The Kwid was launched in India during September 2015. At this point, Renault India recorded 25,000 booking within seven days. Production at their Chennai facility is increased, however, the hatchback still commands an extensive waiting period.
During January 2016, Renault India increased the pricing of their Kwid range by Rs. 11,000 based on variants. The base variant of Kwid costs Rs. 2.70 lakh and the top-end variant is priced at Rs. 3.71 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai). In Mumbai alone, Renault Kwid has a waiting period of six months.
Currently, Renault Kwid competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon, Datsun Go, and Tata Nano GenX. The French manufacturer plans on introducing an optional AMT gearbox to its Kwid, thus adding more value to the Kwid.
