Renault Kwid To Spawn A Compact Sedan Out Of The CMF-A Platform
Renault India has tasted phenomenal success with its all-new Kwid hatchback. The French manufacturer is expected to now develop more products based on the CMF-A platform. An all-new sub-four-metre compact sedan, compact SUV, and MPV models are in the pipeline.
Interestingly, the compact sedan is set to follow in the footsteps of the Renault Kwid. So far not much has been revealed about the upcoming model. The future models were confirmed by Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Renault at the 2016 New York Motor Show.
The Kwid based compact sedan is most likely to be powered by Renault's new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine. The engine would be mated to a manual as well as an AMT option. Performance figures have not been revealed so far and are expected soon.
The CMF-A platform by Renault-Nissan Alliance was heavily localised in India. It is due to this reason, Renault is capable of pricing its models competitively in the country. The future compact sedan, compact SUV, and the MPV too will be priced aggressively by Renault.
