Renault Kwid 1.0-Litre Engine To Deliver 23.01Km/l — Is Maruti Under Attack Again?

Renault is gearing up to launch the 1.0-litre model of the Kwid in India. The French auto major has revealed the fuel efficiency of the Kwid ahead of its launch.

The Renault Kwid 1.0-litre manual gearbox model has a mileage of 23.01km/l, which is lesser than the Maruti Alto K10 mileage (24.07km/l). However, the Kwid 1.0-litre model is better than Hyundai Eon, which gives 20.3km/l.

Renault has powered the Kwid 1.0-litre with 999cc, three-cylinder SCe engine which develops 67bhp and 91Nm of torque and mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the AMT will follow suit.

Renault claims the best-in-class power to weight ratios, rated at 97bhp per tonne for the Kwid 1.0-litre model. As far as the exterior is concerned, the 1.0-litre model is the same as the 800cc model, except it features a black and white chequered decals with '1.0' lettering on the side and on the silver ORVMs.

The Kwid 1.0-litre model will be sold in RxT and RxT (O) variants, and borrow features from the 800cc model which includes a 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen infotainment system. On the safety front, Renault is offering driver's airbags as optional.

Renault is expected to launch the Kwid this month end and will rival the Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon.
