Renault India Aiming At Big Targets To End This Year With
Renault India has seen two very successful products in its four year existence in India — the Duster and the Kwid. The French carmaker is aiming to finish this calendar year with its sales crossing the one lakh mark.
During the period of January to August 2016, Renault has sold 87,000 units in India, out of which 65,000 units are the Renault Kwid. Last year, Renault India sold only 50,000 units in the country. Comparatively, 2016 has been a very good year for the carmaker.
Revealing a bit about how Renault is going to approach the Indian market, Sumit Sawhney, the CEO and MD of Renault India said that the company will launch a new car every year, starting 2017. The Kwid has been among the top selling cars in India, and the MD says there is opportunity in the small car segment.
The Renault Kwid is made in India and is exported to countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. The Renault Kwid, is also sold in Brazil, and is being made there, which is the second country outside India to make the entry-level hatchback.
