Range Rover Sentinel Showcased At 2016 DefExpo
Land Rover is showcasing the Range Rover Sentinel at the 2016 DefExpo India in Goa. The Sentinel is made by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Division.
The Range Rover Sentinel is hand made at Land Rover's Oxford Road facility in the UK and is based on the standard wheelbase Range Rover Autobiography.
Land Rover states that the Sentinel provides the 'highest levels of protection an SUV can offer'.
The Sentinel is verified to VR8 standard against ballistic threats, meaning it can withstand armour piercing incendiary bullets and the blast from DM51 grenade explosions. The Sentinel can also withstand an explosion created by 15 kilograms of TNT.
The certification is due to the six-piece armoured passenger cell made of super-high-strength steel. Also providing security are the multi-laminated armoured privacy glass, a self-healing fuel tank, anti-tamper exhaust and run-flat tyres which will still run even if they are totally deflated.
Providing the getaway power to the Sentinel is a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine producing 340hp which sends power to all four wheels through a specially calibrated ZF 8-speed transmission.
Land Rover has not stated when the Range Rover Sentinel will be launched In India or at what price it will be offered at.
