FIA Approves Pirelli In Season Testing Plan
Formula One's governing body, the FIA Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) has approved changes in the F1 testing calendar to help tyre supplier Pirelli develop tyres for the 2017 season.
Pirelli, the sole tyre supplier for F1, had threatened to quit the sport if the deal allowing for 25 days of testing to help develop tyres that will comply with F1's regulation changes which will be implemented from the 2017 season.
The new regulations will see wider tyres and even more downforce to help cars corner even faster than as F1 tries to reinvent itself yet again with even faster cars to bring back audiences that have slowly been moving away from the sport in recent times.
The approval of Pirelli's testing plans will see the number of days allotted for testing increase from 12 to 25 days in total.
