No Toll Tax For Small Vehicles In Gujarat From August 15
Gujarat Government on Saturday announced their plans to exclude cars and small vehicles from paying toll from August 15.
The chief minister of Gujarat announced his decision on Twitter: "Happy to announce that from August 15, cars and small vehicles will be exempted from paying toll tax in Gujarat."
During a plantation drive in Valsad district today, she said: "When our brothers, sisters from the middle class go out in their cars for work, they have to shell out Rs 100-150 at toll booths. We have decided to exclude them from paying the toll while the bigger vehicles will still have to pay it."
Political parties have been demanding to scrap off toll tax in the state for a while now. However, the credit for the announcement to lift toll tax for cars and small vehicles was claimed by the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP).
AAP's media coordinator said that the demand was first raised by his party. He claimed the state government had been given the freedom to the contractors to loot the people at all national and state highways.
