Nissan To Tap Digitally Powered Shared Car Program
Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn has announced new Nissan Intelligent Get & Go Micra service
Nissan has announced a pioneering new digital shared car ownership service and looks to transform the traditional car sharing industry.
The service termed as Nissan Intelligent Get & Go Micra will give people the possibility to partially own a brand new Nissan Micra. Social networking will be at the heart of this program where it will profile-match customers to form the next-generation car sharing communities via a 100 percent digital experience.
The new service will be launched initially in Paris area later this year and cars are expected to hit the road by 2017.
More about the program, the service is based on a unique algorithm which uses social profiling and geo-localisation technology.
The algorithm will match compatible owners with complimentary driving needs to form a 100 percent digital and shared ownership community.
Nissan says, with bespoke monthly invoicing based on the usage of the car, members can expect no surprises.
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said that they are moving towards the future where car usage may be more flexible, social and shared. He added that at Nissan they are pioneering new ways to allow consumers to enjoy the freedom and financial benefits of shared car ownership.
Nissan Micra will be the choice of the company as it embodies the vision of Nissan Intelligent Mobility. The vision provides the framework how cars are powered, driven, and integrated to the society while staying true to enjoyable driving experience.
Nissan said that with the proliferation of the shared economy model, which impacts everything from cars to food to homes, today's announcement from the company is a step towards realising this Intelligent Mobility goal.
The Nissan Intelligent Get & Go Micra service will use the Nissan Micra Acenta 0.90 manual gearbox variant which comes with world's first Bose Personal Audio, it will include insurance, servicing, access to the online matching tool, smartphone app, and in-car technology.
Communities who are interested in this service will have to agree upon an annual mileage limit of 15,000km.
