Nissan Micra Nismo Version Considered — To Rival Polo GTI
Nissan is speculating to launch the NISMO variant of the Micra hatchback which will be based on the current generation car.
According to the reports, Nissan is speculating a NISMO variant of the Micra for the European market. Identical to what Nissan's 'cousin' Renault has in the form of RenaultSport Clio 200 RS. The Micra NISMO will be a straight rival to the Volkswagen's Polo GTI.
The JDM-spec Nissan Micra which was dubbed as Nissan March was available in NISMO variant, but the modifications to the car were limited to only cosmetic changes.
The Nissan March NISMO was equipped with the sportier bumper, large alloy wheels, red accents, roof spoiler, and chrome finished exhaust pipe.
The speculated Micra NISMO from Nissan is expected to feature more than just a NISMO body kit. It may come with a bigger engine, although it's a prediction as no confirmation from the company till now.
The smallest NISMO in the Nissan's product portfolio is the Nissan Juke NISMO which is powered by 1.6-litre turbocharged engine which is also used in Renault Clio RS.
The NISMO variant of the Micra will be based on the current generation of the mini hatchback. Nissan has everything at its disposal to turn this mini hatchback into a pocket rocket.
The regular Nissan Micra is expected to hit the European market in March 2017. The car will come in both petrol and diesel engine variants - 90bhp 900cc TCe three-cylinder engine and 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 73bhp.
The diesel variant of the Micra will be powered by 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 90bhp.
The Japanese car manufacturer has not revealed that when will the NISMO avatar of the Micra hatchback will be available in the market.
