The Truck Of The Future Is Here — Nikola One Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck Revealed
Nikola's hydrogen fuel cell powered truck has finally been revealed and it promises up to deliver up to 1,900 emission free kilometers on a single tank.
American truck manufacturer Nikola has revealed the One, a massive, hydrogen fuel cell powered, zero emissions semi-truck that promises a massive electric range.
The Nikola One is powered by a a 320-kWh lithium-ion battery incorporated in the frame rail of the truck which kicks out 986bhp and 2,712Nm of torque.
This is enough to power the truck to 60miles/h(96.5km/h) in in 30 seconds under load, which is half the time needed by a diesel-powered truck of the same size.
The lithium-ion battery pack is charged on the go by a hydrogen fuel cell which helps extend the range of the electric Class 8 truck (the largest type of truck around weighing in between 8,165-9,525 kilograms) to between 1,287-1,931 kilometres.
Inside, the One features a smart dashboard which will be able to pick out the most cost-efficient route for drivers.
Also present in the cab will be either one or two beds, a 40-inch curved 4K TV with Apple TV, Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE connectivity along with other amenities like a refrigerator, freezer, and microwave.
Due to the limited number of Hydrogen fuel stations in the US and Canada, Nikola will be building 364 hydrogen stations from January 2018, in the two countries to keep the trucks fueled up.
