Next Generation Jaguar XJ Will Be A Hybrid
Jaguar have decided to retain the XJ luxury sedan and will reinvent it as a hybrid powered luxury sedan.
According to Autocar UK, the decision about whether or not a new XJ would be made went right up to Ratan Tata. Tata Motors is the current owner of Jaguar.
Powering the new XJ will be an all-new V6 engine from the Ingenium family, which will be helped along with electric motors. The new Ingenium V6 will replace the current V6 engine found on most of Jaguar's current lineup.
The hybrid XJ will sit on a modified version of current D7a aluminium architecture but will see carbon-fibre used to replace some sections of the chassis. The use of carbon-fibre will help the XJ lose a bit of weight but also strengthen it as well.
The XJ is also expected toget an entirely new interior to help in its fight against the S-Class from Mercedes-Benz and the BMW 7 Series. Alos expected on board are autonomous driving aids.
The new Jaguar XJ is expected to hit showrooms in 2019 and a concept of the new hybrid luxury sedan is expected to be shown in 2017.
