New Toyota Fortuner Crash Reveals SUV’s Five Star Safety Rating
The new Toyota Fortuner has had a severe crash, which has proved the safety rating awarded to the SUV to be spot on.
Just weeks after Toyota launched the new Fortuner in India, the first crash has appeared online. A White Fortuner lays in a mangled mess off a highway in India.
According to reports, the driver of the new Toyota Fortuner had taken delivery of the new vehicle onle a few days before the crash happened.
The driver, in the new Toyota Fortuner was on the highway, when a truck came towards him from the opposite side. To avoid the truck, he had to swerve off the road, which resulted in the Fortuner rolling over and into a ditch.
Thanks to the Fortuner's safety features like the 7 airbags and the five star safety rating by Global NCAP, all the passengers survived with minimal injuries.
The build quality of the Fortuner too helped occupants survive the crash, although the SUV took enough beating on the exterior. The Fortuner lies in a heap of mangled metal.
The new Toyota Fortuner was launched in India earlier this month, for a price of Rs 25.92 lakh. The new Fortuner comes with a choice of petrol and a diesel engine, with an optional automatic gearbox.
The 2.7-litre petrol engine option on the Fortuner produces 164bhp and 245Nm of peak torque, while the 2.8-litre diesel engine makes 174bhp and 420Nm of torque.
We recently had an opportunity to put the new Fortuner to its test off the road. Read our off-road review of the new Fortuner.
