Mumbai’s Black & Yellow Taxis To Launch 9211 App
Private taxi services have an advantage over the prevailing cab services across India. Now, the Mumbai Taxi Association has introduced their very own app for Android devices. The regular black and yellow taxi's can now be booked through an official app in Mumbai.
Ola Cab, Tab Cab, and Uber sure have something to worry about with the introduction of 9211 app for Mumbai taxi's. The regular yellow and black taxi will have no surge pricing. Payment initially will be accepted only via cash and other options will be included subsequently.
Taxi drivers will follow Government approved fare prices, which start at Rs. 22 for initial 1.5 kilometres travelled. Service is expected to be instantaneous owing to a large number of yellow and black taxi's on the road. Approximately, 35,000 yellow and black taxi's ply on Mumbai roads.
The 9211 app will feature GPS tracking of the taxi and an SOS button for safety purposes. A control room will also be monitored by the Taxi Union to keep a check on their drivers. It will be interesting to see how the new service will function against its competitors. The service is expected to commence from January-end in Mumbai.
