Mitsubishi To Relaunch The Montero India By September
Mitsubishi Motors India is struggling with sales in the sub-continent. Currently their portfolio in India consists only of SUV models like the Pajero Sport. Now the Japanese-based automobile manufacturer plans on relaunching the Montero SUV for Indian market.
The Montero SUV by Mitsubishi will be re-introduced to India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. Bookings for the Montero are being accepted pan India. Mitsubishi Motors India has priced the relaunched Montero at Rs. 67.28 lakh ex-showroom (Maharashtra).
Under the hood of 2016 Mitsubishi Montero is a 3.2-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. The engine produces 189bhp, along with 441Nm of peak torque. An All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system will deliver power to all four-wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of safety, Mitsubishi will be equipping the Montero with six airbags. The SUV will also feature ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution). Spare wheel is mounted outside the vehicle on the rear door.
Previously, Mitsubishi stopped selling the Montero in India by 2014, owing to low demand. New features and minor design updates are expected to garner interest from serious off-road enthusiasts in India.
