Himachal Pradesh To Get Help To Purchase Electric Buses
Himachal Pradesh will get part help in terms of financing to buy electric buses from the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public enterprises. The Northern state of India is planning to buy 25 electric buses to battle pollution.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises had told the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday that the cost of purchasing 25 electric buses will be Rs 50 crore and the funding will be done in 75:25 ratio.
The ministry presented a powerpoint presentation to demonstrate the possibility of running electric and hybrid buses from Manali to Rohtang Pass for tourism purposes. The Tribunal upheld its ban on paragliding in the area.
The National Green Tribunal had banned tourism and commercial activities in the Rohtang Pass to keep a check and preserve the glaciers. The glaciers were receding at the rate of 20 per year since 1986.
