Mercedes-Benz GLS 'The S-Class Of SUVs' Launched In India For Rs. 80.4 Lakh
Mercedes has launched the GLS SUV in India for Rs. 80.40 lakh ex-showroom (Pune). The Mercedes-Benz GLS is the company's flagship SUV on offer in India, and the launch is part of Mercedes' strategy to launch 12 models this year to further strengthen its position in India.
Also, the newly launched Mercedes-Benz GLS will be manufactured in India itself.
Mercedes-Benz GLS Engine & Gearbox Specification
The Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV will be offered in India with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that produces 255bhp and a massive 620Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and power will be delivered to the wheels through the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

Despite it's size, the GLS does offer impressive performance. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 222km/h. The Mercedes-Benz GLS also features 5 driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Off-Road, and Individual.

Being the flagship luxury SUV by Mercedes-Benz in India, the GLS comes with features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new three spoke steering wheel, premium leather upholstery, 20-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, seat position memory, ambient lighting, and 2,300-litres of boot space with the seats folded down.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS will also feature adjustable air suspension and ride height., Apple CarPlay as standard,and LED headlamps and tail lamps.
Mercedes-Benz GLS Safety
Like the features offered, the Mercedes-Benz GLS is big on safety too. What comes with the SUV are collision prevention assist, crosswind assist, attention assist, electronic all-wheel drive (AWD) traction control with 4ETS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), 360-degree camera, and brake assist.
Colours
The Mercedes-Benz GLS will be offered in six colours: Designo Diamond White, Citrine Brown Metallic, Cavansite Blue Metallic, Obsidian Black Metallic, Iridium Silver Metallic, and Tenorite Grey Metallic.
Competition
The Mercedes-Benz GLS will primarily compete with the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 in India.
