Last Mile Connectivity Issue Sorted In Gurgaon — Say Hello To e-Rickshaws
Last mile connectivity has always been a hurdle, and to sort that issue, the MCG has plans to launch 1,000 app based e-rickshaws in Gurgaon by March next year. These will offer safe last mile connectivity.
The e-rickshaw services is specially targeted towards women, and MCG is planning to launch these e-rickshaws at all rapid metro stations in the city. Also, the second phase of metro will likely be operational by December this year.
The services are to be launched by a company called Smart-E, which is already offering e-rickshaw rides in Delhi. On the charges and pricing front, the e-rickshaw ride will cost Rs. 10 for the first 2km, and Rs. 5 for every km under sharing basis. On non-sharing basis, the first 2km will cost Rs. 30 and every km after that would cost Rs. 5.
The Smart-E rickshaws can be booked via an app which will soon be launched. The app will show commuters how long they will have to wait for a ride and will also give the driver an idea about how many customers are waiting for the rickshaw at a particular point.
For safety, all Smart-E rickshaws will have GPS and CCTV cameras installed in them. The police will do mandatory background checks of drivers and in Delhi, the e-rickshaws have seen a lot of women drivers taking the jobs and the company is looking forward for the same in Gurgaon.
