Mazda To Recall 374,519 Cars Fitted With Takata Airbags
oi-Dennis
By Dennis
Japanese carmaker Mazda will recall 374,519 cars in the United States, to replace the potentially defective front passenger airbag made by the troubled Takata Corp. Mazda has not specified when the replacements for these vehicles will begin.
The recalled cars include units of the 2003-2008 Mazda6 manufactured between May 29, 2002, to May 5, 2008; 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6 built from July 1, 2005, to June 29, 2007; and the 2004 RX-8 sports car made from June 25, 2003, to June 30, 2003.
Takata airbag recalls are linked to nine deaths and more than 100 injuries stemming from airbag inflators that ruptured and sent metal fragments flying.
