Maruti Suzuki To Resume Production After Temporary Shutdown

Maruti Suzuki is to resume production at its Manesar facilities from today (June 1, 2016) after operations were temporarily shut down after a fire broke out at the Subros facility. The carmaker said it will resume operations from the second half of the day.

Maruti said, "Subros Limited and MSIL are jointly working on options to obtain supply of components from other facilities and gradually bring operations back to normal."

The fire broke out during the second half of the day on May 29, 2016 at the Subros facility that is located inside the premises of Maruti Suzuki. Subros manufactures air conditioning system for Maruti Suzuki and for many other brands, and is set up in an area of 38,000 sq meters.

The Maruti Suzuki factory at Manesar is spread over an area of 600 acres and has the production capacity to manufacture 5.5 lakh cars per year. At the moment, Maruti's factories, the Gurgaon and Manesar plant together manufacture around 5,000 cars per day.
