Maruti Suzuki India continued its hold on the Indian passenger vehicles segment. The company has six of its models featuring in the top ten selling list in April-September period this fiscal.

According to data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Maruti Suzuki India's (MSI) Alto is the best selling model in April-September period with 1,20,720 units.

The company's other entry level hatchback WagonR claimed the second spot during the period selling 86,939 units. When compared to last year, the hatchback's sales was increased by 2.69 percent.

MSI's compact sedan Dzire retained the third spot selling 81,926 units despite a decline of 20.95 percent from 1,03,651 units in the year-ago period. Fourth best-selling model in this period is the Maruti Swift with the sale of 80,756 units.

Hyundai Motor India's Grand i10 was the fifth best selling with 71,703 units and the South Korean manufacturer also robbed the sixth place with its premium hatchback Elite i20 with 61,784 units.

Renault India's Kwid made it to the seventh spot with 56,028 units as compared to just 381 units in the same period last year. The eighth and ninth position went to Maruti's premium hatchback Baleno with 54,947 and compact SUV Vitara Brezza at 50,859 units. The top ten was completed by Hyundai's SUV Creta with 47,923 units against 23,117 in last year.

Maruti Suzuki managed to sell a total of 7,05,287 units in the April-September period this fiscal. The company also maintained its share of 47.2 percent in the domestic passenger vehicles market. The total industry passenger vehicles sales were 14,94,039 units in the first half of 2016-2017.
