Diesel Ban Affecting Sales! Not For Maruti Suzuki
The diesel ban brought with it the misery of lower sales for many of the car manufacturers. As India was embracing the diesel technology due to better fuel efficiency and the technology of the diesel engine had improved tremendously.
Companies like Mahindra & Mahindra and Toyota who had a wide range of diesel vehicles under their portfolio felt the heat and sales number lowered. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki predominantly a petrol car manufacturer was hardly affected by the ban.
Maruti Suzuki took advantage of the situation and sales by nearly 5 percent increased only in the NCR. It also saw a 8 percent increase in sales in major cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, and even tier I cities like Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow where Maruti saw an increase of 3 to 8 percent in sales.
Along with the anti-diesel trend among buyers, it launched the Baleno and the Brezza which helped the sales and acceptance from car buyers.
RS Kalsi, executive director, sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki said, "Our network is much stronger in these markets. Nexa has redefined the purchase and ownership experience. Technologies like mild hybrid and AMT have made our vehicles much more appealing for urban customers,"
