Maruti Suzuki has launched the limited edition of the popular Swift and has named it 'Deca'. When Maruti launched the Swift back in 2004, it created a segment of supermini hatchback and many car manufacturers followed suit.

Now, with the limited edition avatar of the Swift in India, the company is bringing the best features on the Swift Limited Edition. How does it differ from the Swift? Let us compare both and find out which suits you the best.

Design

The new Maruti Swift Deca limited edition is the same Swift; however, gets upgrades like the body kits in the front and back with skirts on the side. A new roof-mounted spoiler, also, seen are the sporty racing stripes running from the hood to the boot-lid.

The C-pillar and the rear door gets the stripes as well to compliment the theme. The front door gets the number '10' decals. The wheel covers on the Swift is silver, the Swift Deca gets them in gloss black raising the premium touch.

As for the interiors, the seats of the Swift Deca features black and red themed seat covers with contrast white piping, steering wheel cover, and front armrest.

The cabin has been spruced up with interior styling kit which includes door sill guard, ambient lighting, faux carbon fibre finish to the centre console, gear boot cover and trendy floor mats.

Maruti will offer the Swift Deca Limited Edition with the colour options of Bright Red and Pearl White.

Features

A whole lot features have been added to the limited edition Swift. A Sony multimedia touchscreen music system with Bluetooth and external mic has been added. This is complimented with 6-inch Sony door mounted speakers and a reverse parking assist system with camera.

Engine Specifications and Gearbox

Under the hood, the engine powering the Swift Deca Limited Edition remains the same as the Swift. The 1.2-litre K-Series VVT engine produces 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. As for the diesel mill, it is a 1.3-litre DDiS engine which develops 74bhp and 190Nm of torque.

Both the engines are mated with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

Pricing

Maruti has priced the Swift Deca with a premium of Rs 22,555 for the petrol VXi over the Swift VXi (O) and Rs 30,319 for the diesel VDi when compared to Swift VDi (O). The company says they are offering benefits of Rs 18,000 on the accessory kit on the Swift Deca.

Safety

On the safety front, the Swift Deca Limited Edition features all the safety features seen on the Swift VDi or the VXi enjoys, which includes optional dual airbags, ABS with EBD - optional on petrol and standard on diesel, same with the brake assist. The limited edition gets the reverse parking sensor with a camera as well.

Verdict

Some might say this is the same wine in a new bottle; however, Maruti has given a subtle touch of premium feel which the Swift was losing out to its competitors. It does miss out the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) which would have set the car apart in its segment.
