The company is planning to launch the new Swift Sport along with the regular variant in 2017. The new vehicle is codenamed as YSD.
This model has a much more stylish appearance than the normal variant. It is expected that the Swift Sport will get a floating roof design similar to the Vitara Brezza.
It will also feature twin exhaust pipes, stylish steering wheel and colourful interior. Under the hood will be a turbocharged 1.4-litre engine churning out 140bhp of power and 220Nm of peak torque.
It is expected that the vehicle will do a sprint of 0-100 km/h under 9 seconds. The report also reveals that Maruti will manufacture this engine at its Manesar plant. The Swift Sport is expected to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.
