Maruti Suzuki Ignis Mini-SUV To Replace Ritz Hatchback In The Indian Market
Sales of Maruti Suzuki Ritz dropped to five units during the previous month in India. Now, the Japanese-based manufacturer is contemplating ending production of Ritz.
Maruti Suzuki is most likely to put an end to producing the Ritz hatchback model. The Ritz was an extremely popular hatchback when launched in India. Unfortunately, the Japanese-based manufacturer has not provided significant updates to the hatchback.
In the last few months, Maruti Suzuki has witnessed a steep decline in sales of Ritz. During October 2016, Maruti Suzuki dealerships managed to sell just five units of the Ritz. Now, the manufacturer is confident on ending production of Ritz and replacing it with their Ignis model.
Currently, the crossover/mini-SUV trend is high in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki garnered a lot of attention at the 2016 Auto Expo with their Ignis model. The Ignis mini-SUV by Maruti Suzuki will be offered with both a petrol and diesel engine option, similar to the Ritz model.
The Ritz by Maruti Suzuki is priced aggressively from Rs. 4.31 lakh to Rs. 6.58 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). Ignis is most likely to be priced in the same price range. However, Maruti Suzuki is most likely to offer the Ignis exclusively through their NEXA dealerships pan India.
Once the Ignis by Maruti Suzuki is launched it will take on the likes of Mahindra KUV1OO. The Ignis will also go up against the soon to be launched Chevrolet Beat Aktiv model in India. Stay tuned for more updates on Maruti Suzuki launches and updates in the country.
