Maruti Suzuki Shuts Down Production Plants
Maruti Suzuki, has started its biennial maintenance at its Gurgaon and Manesar ahead of schedule. The production plants will remain shut from June 6 to June 11.
The automaker usually schedules its biennial mid year maintenance at the end of June.
The maintenance schedule has been preponed due to a fire at Subros Auto Air-conditioning Systems, one of the suppliers for Maruti Suzuki, which saw Maruti's manufacturing plants at Manesar and Gurgaon stall due to the unavailability of parts.
The two plants manufacture a total of 5,000 cars and SUVs a day and every year produce a total of 15 lakh units.
It is not yet known how the maintenance shutdown will affect the waiting period of models like the Baleno(current waiting time of 6 months) and the Vitara Brezza(current waiting period - 9 months).
