Maruti Suzuki Alto Gets Optional Driver Airbag
Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, introduced enhanced safety equipment in a large number of its models. The car manufacturer now offers a driver's side airbag as an option in all variants of the Alto 800 and Alto K10.
Dual airbags with ABS and EBD was offered as standard across variants of the S-Cross and Baleno. This was followed by making dual airbags, ABS with EBD available as an option in all variants of the Ciaz, Eritga, Dzire, WagonR, and Celerio.
Maruti Suzuki is trying to make their customers feel reassured by providing driver side airbag from the base variant upward. Apart from the driver airbag, Maruti has also made available the left Outside Rear View Mirror (ORVM) across all variants of Alto.
Safety features like airbags and ABS could soon become mandatory in India. Other car manufacturers like Toyota and Volkswagen have also rolled out features like airbags as standard for their models in the country.
The Alto has been Maruti Suzuki's best selling model for 10 years in a row, and totally sold over 29 lakh units in India.
