Mahindra XUV500 Completes Five Successful Years In India
Mahindra's most successful SUV in India, the XUV500 has completed five years in the Indian market. The XUV500 was launched back in September 2011.
The XUV500 was the first SUV from Mahindra to be equipped with monocoque chassis. The SUV was mainly targeted to bridge the gap between compact and full-size SUV's.
The design theme of the XUV500 is the fastest animal on land, the Cheetah. The SUV has been completely designed in-house in company's facility.
Currently, the XUV500 is available in four trims levels and 17 variants, depending on the engine options, transmission and the two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive system.
The XUV500 is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk four cylinder, turbo diesel engine which produces 140bhp and peak torque of 330Nm.
The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox developed in assistance with Ricardo and also six-speed automatic transmission sourced from AISIN.
Following the diesel ban in Delhi and NCR, the SUV is also available in 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine which produces a similar output as the 2,2-litre engine.
The XUV500 comes with safety features such as - Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS),Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, six airbags Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Remote Central Locking and Engine immobilizer.
This stylish SUV boasts features such as - touch-screen infotainment system with GPS navigation, 6-speaker music system with Bluetooth compatibility and USB & Aux-in support, electric sunroof, rear AC vents, automatic climate control system, electric ORVM's and much more.
