Lexus RX450h SUV India Launch Scheduled For 2017
The India launch date for the Lexus RX450h has been revealed and will cater to the buyers of alternative fuelled vehicles
Lexus is all set to enter India with three models - ES sedan, the RX SUV, and the top of the line full-size LX SUV. The Lexus LX SUV will attract the buyers who are looking for a massive sized SUV and a luxurious cabin, the RX SUV will cater to the buyers of alternative fuel-conscious buyers.
India will get the fourth generation Lexus RX450h which will be apetrol-hybrid model. The RX SUV from Lexus will rival the likes of Mercedes GLC, and the Audi Q5, the RX will be the only hybrid model in the competition giving it an edge in the segment.
With Lexus RX450h having the edge of the hybrid powertrain, it is expected to be higher in pricing compared to its competitors and thus needs to be seen how it is gonna affect the sales in the country.
The Lexus RX450h will be powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol and hybrid model, both the mills (petrol and electric) will churn out 307bhp of power and will be tied to a CVT automatic gearbox and power will be sent to all the four wheels.
Among the features, the Lexus RX450h will be equipped with drive modes, dual-zone climate control, power-adjusting steering column, power-adjust heated and ventilated front seats with memory, LED headlamps, reverse camera, powered tailgate, power folding and heated rear seats.
Also featured are the sunroof, park assist with auto braking and infotainment with navigation. As for the safety aspects, the Lexus RX450h will be equipped with 10 airbags, vehicle stability control, among others.
While the international model gets a 20-inch alloy wheels, the India-bound model will get the 18-inch wheels. Supposedly, the initial batch of the RX350h might miss out on the navigation function.
The RX450h will be a CBU import hence expect the pricing to be on the upper side compared to the rivals like the Mercedes GLC, and the Audi Q5. The local assembly of the Lexus vehicles is expected at alater point in time.
The bookings for the Lexus RX350h will begin sometime during mid-2017, probably March 2017.
