Lance Stroll At Williams Racing On Merit & Not A Paid F1 Seat
Lance Stroll has been recruited by Williams Martini Racing for the 2017 Formula One season. Many believe that Stroll has entered Formula One owing to his financial backing.
Williams Martini Racing recently announced that they will be taking on rookie Lance Stroll for 2017 Formula One Championship. This news was met with some criticism that Stroll is entering F1 owing to his financial backing. Lance Stroll will be replacing the retiring Felipe Massa.
Stroll is set to become the second youngest driver to enter Formula One Championship. His father is Lawrence Stroll a billionaire businessman. Many individuals suggest that Williams Racing has taken on Lance Stroll owing to his influential background.
In 2014, Lance Stroll won the Italian Formula 4 Championship with Prema Powerteam. He secured the Toyota Racing Series title with M2 Competition team in 2015. Lance Stroll also won the FIA European Formula 3 Championship with Prema Powerteam in 2016.
Lance Stroll has an impressive racing resume at the tender age of 18 years. The Canadian racing driver has also been undertaken as a development driver by Scuderia Ferrari and Williams Martini Racing. For 2017, Stroll will be driving alongside Bottas at Williams Racing.
FIA has introduced the Super Licence system, which ensures no driver can buy their way into the sport. Aspiring drivers have to prove their worth in the junior classes to be eligible for a Super License. Lance Stroll wants Formula One fans to see his skill on track and not off it.
