Spot The Buses While They 'Smoke' And Earn Yourself A Reward
If you spot a bus 'smoking' in public, and the bus is BMTC or KSRTC, you can earn yourself a reward of Rs. 1000 and also have it removed from service.
As an initiative to go green, The Karnataka State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have been asking the citizens to report such polluting buses.
A KSRTC official said, "Three buses have been identified by citizens already, and they have been rewarded as promised. We will continue the drive in 15 districts in the state, including Bengaluru, and hope it helps us become more environment-friendly."
As a part of the same initiative, BMTC will run 135 buses on 20 percent bio-fuel. On a trial run conducted in 2015, the team successfully replaced 5,000 litres of diesel in one month.
So, the next time you spot one, with no delay, you can call up BMTC's helpline (1-800-425-1663) and make some money.
