Jaguar Land Rover Opens Performance Division With New Technical Centre
Tata Motors-owned, Jaguar Land Rover has opened a new technical centre of Rs. 174.36 crore for its Special Vehicles Operations (SVO) division. The SVO headquarters based out Coventry in the UK expands over 20,000 square meters.
The centre will house the facilities for manufacturing and painting, customer commissioning and presentation zones and most of all technical areas.
SVO boss John Edwards said "The new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre is a major step forward in meeting the desires of our most discerning customers. There are more than 200 skilled employees here who are committed to outstanding quality and craftsmanship in everything they do."
"The SVO Technical Centre is a very modern facility, inspired by a Formula 1 engineering centre. It covers 20,000 square metres including a manufacturing area, one of the world's most eco-friendly and advanced paint shops, custom-built commissioning suite, technical suite, presentation suite, and offices."
The SVO products include the Range Rover Sport SVR, Range Rover SVAutobiography and Jaguar F-type SVR. There has been good demand for these performance vehicles and the opening of the new division will cater to the higher demand.
JLR has invested approximately Rs. 65.39 crore also in the Classic business division located close by to the SVO centre which is due to open later this year.
Their main manufacturing plant is being expanded as well with an investment of nearly Rs. 4,359 crore for the construction, which was recently approved by the district councils.
