2018 Jeep Wrangler To Be Produced With Alloy Parts

If reports on the internet are to be true, then the 2018 Jeep Wrangler will come produced with aluminum doors and hood. It has been more than a year since Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne said that the next Wrangler will not take the aluminium route, the next-generation off-roader will make use of the lightweight material.

Alcoa who will be supplying the product, an internal source confirms about the 2018 Wrangler (codenames "JL") and the body parts will be made of the alloy material. As per the reports, Alcoa will in charge of supplying its "6022 alloy" which is usually used for closure products.

The Wrangler will be using the alloy on its door and hood, Alcoa will also provide its 951 pre-treatment bonding technology for the alloy sheets. Also, Jeep Wrangler will be the first to make use of Alcoa's C6A1 high formof alloys.
