Jeep India To Launch Heavily Localised Compass Mid-Size SUV Soon

The Compass mid-size SUV by Jeep will be launched in India sometime during mid-2017. Jeep Compass will be similar in terms of design to the Grand Cherokee luxury SUV.

Jeep will be introducing several new models in the Indian market. Their next launch will be the Jeep Compass mid-size SUV in India. Compass by Jeep will be a genuine 5-seater model and will be available in India sometime during mid-2017.

Powering the Jeep Compass will be an optional petrol and diesel engine option. A 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine and a 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine sourced from Fiat India. Both engines are likely to be offered with manual as well as automatic transmission gearboxes.

In terms of design, Jeep Compass will look like a smaller version of Jeep Grand Cherokee. The headlight and front grille will be reminiscent of the Grand Cherokee by Jeep. Wheel arches in typical Jeep fashion will be squared-off showcasing the vehicle's off-road capabilities.

Currently, Jeep India imports the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Cherokee SRT model. The Compass, however, will be heavily localised by Jeep India at their Ranjangaon facility near Pune. Expect Jeep Compass to be priced attractively within the Rs. 20 lakh ex-showroom bracket.
