Jaguar Starts Bookings For XF — Launch Imminent?
British automaker Jaguar has started accepting bookings for the 2016 XF sedan in India ahead of its expected launch later this month.
Jaguar dealers are currently accepting bookings for the XF for Rs. 5 Lakh.
The new XF will be offered with two Ingenium engines, one petrol and one diesel. Both petrol and diesel engines displace 2.0-litres and are turbocharged.
The petrol engine produces 237bhp and 340Nm of torque. The diesel engine produces 178bhp and 430Nm of torque.
Both engines are mated to an 8-speed gearbox and are available with four different driving modes:Standard, Eco, Dynamic, and Rain/Ice/Snow.
The petrol powered XF will sprint from 0–100km/h in 7 seconds and will keep on accelerating till it hits a top speed of 248km/h.
The diesel XF's sprintfrom 0–100km/h in 8.1 seconds, taking a whole 1.1 seconds more than the petrol. The diesel powered XFs also have lower top speed at 229km/h.
The new XF is 5,067mm long, 2,091mm wide (including the mirrors) and 1,457mm tall, which makes it 7mm shorter and 3mm lower than its predecessor.
However, the wheelbase has increased by 51mm to 2,960mm. This has lead to an increase in legroom and knee room by 15mm and 24mm respectively.0
The new XF is almost 190kg lighter than the previous generation car thanks to an aluminium chassis.
Design wise, the XF borrows a lot from its smaller XE sibling and looks a whole lot sharper as well.
The headlamps are slightly recessed compared to the grille and feature L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The front bumper looks quite aggressive as well.
The rear end of the car are dominated by the wrap around tail lamps, which seem to be borrowed from F-Type and feature a similar LED graphics as well. The taillamps are connected by a chrome strip above which sits Jaguar's symbol in all its glory.
The boot lid also features a small spoiler that adds to the sporty character of the car.
Inside, the XF boasts of a 12.3-inch fully TFT instrument cluster, a laser Head Up Display, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 4-zone climate control along withperforated leather seats and memory function for the driver's seat.
