1955 Jaguar D-Type Steals The Show At Pebble Beach Auctions
This year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance witnessed millions of dollars worth of cars being sold through auctions. But, a Jaguar D-Type 1955 broke all records when it was sold for around $ 22 million.
Sotheby's and Gooding & Co is the one who sold the bespoke Jaguar.
Now, the Jaguar D-Type 1955 Series 1 Roadster has become the most expensive British car to be sold at an auction after being sold at a hefty price of $21.78 million (Rs. 146 Cr.).
The Jaguar D-Type featured an amazing bodywork with a black interior, and black hood. It also includes black leather seats and a steering wheel with a wooden hoop.
The car has been completely restored recently. The engine components have been replaced with original engine parts from 1955.
The car also comes with a good pedigree as the Jaguar once belonged to singer Bobby Darin. The car has been officially certified by Jaguar Heritage and it has a document from 1975 showing the ownership of Bobby Darin.
The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance has always been the place to see ultra-rare classic cars and prototypes in the automotive industry. This year was no exception.
