Is Infiniti Planning A High Performance Model?
According to a recent report, Infiniti won't build a contender for Mercedes AMG/BMW M Sports/Audi RS anytime soon. But that doesn't mean the automaker will stop developing sportier cars altogether.
Currently, the automaker's most powerful car, 3.0-litre twin turbocharged Q60 Coupe produces 400bhp. Earlier, when asked about the sports model, Gerardo Carmona, Infiniti's Senior Manager of Product Strategy stated that the company will launch performance divisions at some point, but not anytime soon.
He said, "That's never going to be off the table, because Infiniti is all about performance, in a very sculpted and artisan way. But unfortunately, it's not going to come very soon. Everything is up for consideration, and we have a lot of options within the R&D group.
"Right now we're focusing on the 400 hp and although we currently don't have any ambition for this car to go and compete with the vehicles you've mentioned, as for doing something more, that is something we're not yet able to disclose."
Francois Bancon, Infiniti's Vp of Product Planning, confirmed that there is another sports model which will hit the roads soon. The firm may not be able to compete against Germany's finest with the first model.
Mr Bancon believes that the sportier model will be a great benefit for Infiniti's line-up. He also revealed that the model will have high power outputs and EV tech.
So, the future model will have a hybridised powertrain. He didn't disclose the timescale of the model's launch. As soon as Infiniti starts working on the model, the firm will make it truly incredible.
By looking at the design we can simply say it is a beautiful car which looks so futuristic and this can easily mark the company's entry in AMG/M/RS segment.
Once the new model gets on par with brand's standards, it will reveal the launch date and specifications. We can hope it won't take too long.
