India-Bhutan Car Rally Flagged Off From Tawang
The India-Bhutan car was flagged off from Tawang. The cars were flagged off by Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu.
India-Bhutan Friendship Car Rally 2016 was flagged off by Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu in Twang on Sunday.
This rally is the biggest motorsport event in the eastern part of India. With over 20 competitors from Bhutan, Australia, Portugal and India taking part in this rally.
This rally is organised by International Friendship Car Rally Association and is one of the only three events held in the Indian sub-continent.
The India-Bhutan rally is supported by state's tourism department and the Bhutan India Friendship Association to strengthen the relationship between the two neighbouring nations.
Competitors will cover a distance of more than 1,000kms before the rally reaches its climax at Thimphu, Bhutan's capital city.
The main theme of this rally is ‘'reconnect and strengthen the age-old historical linkage, cultural and linguistic affinities between Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan'.
On this occasion of the flag off ceremony, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, parliamentary secretary Jambey Tashi, MLA's, tourism secretary Joram Beda and DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok were also present.
