Hyundai To Launch Elite i20 With 7-Speed Auto Transmission In India
Hyundai Motors is the second best-selling car manufacturer in the Indian market. Number one position is still dominated by Maruti Suzuki and its extensive portfolio. The Elite i20 and Baleno models compete against each other in the premium hatchback segment.
Now in an attempt to one up, it's competitor Hyundai Elite i20 will be offering more value to its hatchback. The Elite i20 hatchback will include an all-new 7-speed Automatic Transmission (AT). Hyundai India showcased its Dual Clutch Transmission at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Currently, only Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo TSI feature Dual Clutch Automatic Gearbox options in the hatchback segment. Expect Hyundai to offer the 7-speed AT in Elite i20 only in their top-end variant. In terms of pricing the Elite i20 AT could cost in excess of Rs. 8.5 lakh ex-showroom.
Hyundai dealerships are expected to commence pre-booking for Elite i20 AT soon. The all-new Hyundai Elite i20 AT will launch sometime during the festive season in the Indian market. The introduction of Elite i20 AT could boost sales for Hyundai Motors India to an extent.
The Elite i20 with 7-speed DCT will receive no styling updates, only an AT badge could be applied to the rear. Hyundai Motors India plans on launching the Tucson and all-new Elantra in the country as well. Stay tuned for more update and product launches from Hyundai.
