Hyundai has recently launched the Elantra premium sedan and this car has been a success in the Indian market. In just three months of the launch, the car received an immense response from the Indian customers.
But there is still some territory that Hyundai has not placed its foot in India. Yes, it's the sportiness. Hyundai is yet to offer such products in India.
When we talk about sports hatchback or sedan, most of the Indian customers turns towards Maruti Suzuki or the Volkswagen.
Although in the international market, Hyundai has produced some sporty iterations of its cars. Such as the i20 N-Sport and the Veloster., but these cars couldn't make it to India because of its price point.
Now the Korean car maker has launched the Elantra Sport in the US market. The car features a perfect balance between sportiness and luxury making it a mean looking sedan.
The Elantra Sport is powered by 1.6-litre turbocharged engine which has been tuned to produce 201bhp, 50bhp of more power compared to the standard Elantra. The maximum torque produced is 265Nm.
The engine is coupled to a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Apart from that, the Sport sedan gets larger 12-inch cross-drilled disc in the front.
The other major mechanical upgrades are - large stabiliser bars, retuned steering system, all-new multi-link suspension at the rear to improve traction, sporty exhaust, large bumpers and bigger wheels.
So, will India get this hot looking Elantra? Well, the standard Elantra offers a lot for its price range in the country. But sporty sedan will be perfect for someone who is looking for a daily ride yet quick to get on the power.
The Elantra Sport can give the Skoda Octavia VRS a tough competition if the Elantra Sport is launched in India. Although it will target a small set of audience, this sporty sedan will be a hit in India if the car is priced well.
